Funding Focus 2024-2027

As the driest inhabited continent, Australia’s freshwater systems and the connected saltwater estuaries and coasts are among our most precious natural assets. Water is life, sustaining healthy ecosystems, thriving communities and holding deep cultural significance for First Nations peoples. While vital to Australia’s future, they have been historically mismanaged and face growing threats. Meanwhile the work to protect and restore them remains significantly underfunded.

Nature Impact Collective’s first funding strategy has focused on supporting environmental organisations working to protect and restore Australia’s inland waters and coastal ecosystems. To date, we have gifted $5.8 million to 18 organisations working across this space.

The Collective has chosen to retain this focus until 2027, reflecting the scale and urgency of the challenges facing Australia’s waterways and the opportunity for philanthropy to contribute to lasting change.

Each consecutive funding round builds knowledge, relationships and momentum and expands support to reflect the breadth of solutions needed.
